| Dear Alexis, Shaving your dog may seem like a good idea but the truth is that shaving may be detrimental to your dog's comfort and health. Dog's coats are designed to capture air and use it as an insulator. During the summer it holds the heat at bay, and helps them regulate their body temperature. Without an insulating layer of fur dogs can be more susceptible to heat stroke and at a greater risk of sunburn and skin cancer.
